People with developmental and/or other disabilities want greater
independence, not less control. But as more services are acquired to aid
in their quest for true independence, day-to-day decisions are often
taken out of their hands and placed under the control of programs,
administrators, and the bureaucratic process.
Ocean State Community Resources presents OPTIONS, a
direct response to the frustration sometimes created by a traditional
service delivery system. Created in the spirit of the Self-Determination
movement, OPTIONS allows people to take control of all the support
resources already at their disposal. From funds allocation to staffing,
contracting to scheduling, and bookkeeping to supervision, OPTIONS gives
real people the real power to make the decisions that affect their
ability to live truly independently.
Persons Currently Serviced under OPTIONS
- Adults with developmental disabilities funded under the Dept. of Mental Health Retardation and Hospitals (MHRH)
- Adults with non-developmental
disabilities such as but not limitied to; spinal cord injuries or traumatic brain injuries. PersonalChoice Program Funded by Dept. of Human Services (DHS)
- Adults with Alzheimer's Disease - Family-Directed Respite Program in conjunction with the Dept of Elderly Affairs (DEA)
